Wild Cherry “Play That Funky Music”

Wild cherry was present when the rock music scene was lined by stalwarts like Led zeppelin, JIMI Hendrix, Oozy Osborne. This band had reached its success and had created its individual position.

Wild Cherry had many enthusiastic fans that made the band their idol and had graded it to be one amongst the best band in the super seventies.

Rob Parissi the lead singer of wild Cherry said that he wanted to create a variety of music which was a mix of pop and R B. 1975 was the anticipation time of the team when the original members got divided and then were replaced by Rob’s cousin Coogie Stoddart in guitar, lead and vocal background and Joe bachmelter on Bass.

This new band was playing at the rock clubs around Pittsburgh. But later the clubs were also closed leaving the Band no other option but get started playing at disc clubs and bars. They were in to heavy metal stuff but the people came to them and demanded to play some funky stuff.

There came the idea of mixing rock with some funky music. Almost immediately they started “play that funky music” in the year 1976, which brought many people and they started liking it. It soon planed the announcement and was also selected for two Grammy awards and won the American award for the top R&B single of the year.
